Minh Vu was an incredible teacher. I felt radically liberated as a student of this class and of Minhs discussion section. I feel like this class has helped me expand my imagination of what kind of world I want to live in. The discussion sections that Minh led were structurally centered around the class as a meeting place and a community rather than an apparatus of academia, which I found was very rare and special. There was a learning that happened in that section, but the learning was done in a structural way that truly responded to the provocations raised by the literature we were unpacking. The learning became immersive, and I am very grateful for that. Moreover, Minh was exceptional in preparing us and organizing the section. I cherished Minh's emails because they were written so thoughtfully and comprehensively, and he even created a google drive where we could access everything we discussed in class (which Minh took live notes of). The part of class that impacted me the most were Minhs feedback comments on our assignments. They were extremely thorough, insightful, provocative, but also spoke to me as a human and not just as a student. I seriously have been transformed by this class and am very sad that it is already over. I don't think I have encountered a Teaching Fellow who has shown so much care in their labor. I felt really cared for, and it made me care a lot more about what I could learn (and unlearn) through this course.
↳ Minh is a fantastic Teaching Fellow who led easily one of the best sections for a class I have ever had. Their teaching abilities are reflective of not only their knowledge, but also their care, investment, and enthusiasm for students and course materials. Furthermore, they came prepared each meeting to lead an organized and fruitful section. Minh's sections were energetic, engaging, and educational, and it is not often for sections to be able to accomplish multiple of those.
↳ Minh was a fantastic teaching fellow. They provided me with some of the most detailed and helpful writing feedback I have received during my time as a student at Yale. They put so much care into each student individually when it came to advising us on our midterm and final assignments, and I am so grateful for all their help. Moreover, they continually checked in with our class throughout the semester, tailoring our sections to help with people's overall workload and schedules. They are an amazing instructor, and I hope to be in a class with them again before I graduate!
↳ Minh was an ideal TF in every way: they made the section feel like a community, led discussion in a way that encouraged everyone to share their insights, organized activities and mini-lectures that made section exciting and well-executed every week, and gave detailed and encouraging feedback on all projects. I'm so grateful they were my TA.
↳ Minh was an incredible TF. They led the discussion section with clear and explicit guidance and expectations on coursework. They led discussions deftly and so they were both engaging and enriching. They provided excellent, thorough, and timely feedback on assignments that was so helpful in my continued success within the course. Beyond that, Minh was also an incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and emotionally intelligent Teaching Fellow and succeeded in creating a learning enivornment that was warm as well as academically envigorating.
↳ Minh is going to be my friend for a long time. I feel comfortable sharing private essays with him and talking about anything. His feedback is thorough and supppppper quick to get back to me. He wrote a response to every students discussion post twice per week, before the next day of class. Thats impressive!! And hes super engaging in the chat of Zoom.
↳ Minh is the BEST!!!! Honestly one of the most articulate and thoughtful TF's I have ever encountered. They are incredibly understanding and their experience with Yale classes makes them a particularly valuable asset to students who are seeking out instructors who understand the stress and vigor of Yale courses. So thoughtful and kind - thank you Minh <3
↳ Minh is an incredible TA! Minh is supportive, kind, and has a beautiful insight on writing! They work with Prof. Hopper to make sure the class runs smoothly and gives feedback/draft assistance. Minh is more than a Teaching Fellow, but a person who truly cares for all students in the class and wants to improve/enhance writing! Plus, they were always there to brighten my day with a smile and advice!
↳ Strengths: AN ABSOLUTE BANGER OF A TF!! Warm, communicative, and so insightful! Commented on everyone's Canvas posts every single time with really deep takes. Sparked discussion in class, and brought up their own experiences when they were spotlighted in the Writers in our Midst section. IN LOVE!! NO WEAKNESSES, ONLY ICON.
